Rocky Mountain National Park: timed entry continues in 2026
Rocky Mountain timed entry requires a reservation during specified daytime hours from late May into October. There is also a separate option that includes the Bear Lake Road Corridor.
Planning implication: decide the hiking area before booking. A Bear Lake itinerary needs the reservation product that includes that corridor.
Yosemite: no park-wide entrance reservation in 2026
Yosemite reservations are not required park-wide under the park's official 2026 policy, including peak summer and the firefall period. That doesn't remove separate campground, lodging, overnight wilderness or Half Dome requirements.
Arches, Glacier and Mount Rainier: major 2026 changes
For 2026, Arches is not using timed entry, Glacier does not require a park-wide vehicle reservation, and Mount Rainier is not using timed entry. Older articles can be wrong for this season.

Vehicle reservations are required for Cadillac Summit Road from May 20 through October 25, 2026. The park releases 30 percent of reservations 90 days ahead and 70 percent two days ahead at 10 a.m. ET.
Haleakalā: sunrise is reservation-only
Vehicles entering Haleakalā's Summit District from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. for sunrise need a reservation. Inventory releases up to 60 days ahead, with another portion released two days before. The reservation is separate from the entrance fee.
Shenandoah: Old Rag day-use tickets
Old Rag day-use tickets are required from March 1 through November 30, in addition to the park entrance pass. In 2026, the park releases part of the inventory 30 days ahead and the rest five days ahead.
