Xploreum Free vs Xplorer Pro: What $79 a Year Unlocks

Important: saving trips and Xavier's memory of your travel preferences are not Pro-only. Free accounts have both. The value of Xplorer Pro is access to, and continued use of, the plan you saved, not extra save slots or a memory feature that free accounts lack.

You can start a conversation with Xavier in ordinary language. Rather than building the entire itinerary before learning what you need, Xavier gathers enough context to build a suitable trip. The seven core inputs are your starting point, your dates and number of days, the number of travelers, trip style, fitness or activity level, budget with currency, and vehicle.

You can send those details together in one message. If something is missing, Xavier asks about it. Once your trip summary is ready, you review it and confirm with Looks perfect, build it! Xavier then starts building the journey. Without an account, you can build and confirm Day 1. To go on to Day 2, or to save, you need to create a free account or sign in.

That gives you a real chance to try the planning conversation before committing to anything. It does not mean the complete week appears instantly, or that a visitor without an account can build and keep an entire trip.

A free account lets you continue through the full day-by-day planning conversation. Xavier builds a day, presents its stops, and summarizes the driving and hiking distance, elevation, estimated cost, and where you sleep. You review the result before confirming that day and moving to the next one.

While you plan, you can correct individual stops. For example, change 2.3 refers to the third stop on Day 2. Xavier revises that part of the plan, and you confirm the affected day again. You can also ask for a different place to sleep or an easier or harder day. The next day begins at the overnight location chosen for the previous day, so a change to where you sleep also changes where the following morning starts.

While the plan is unfinished, it is marked In Progress. An unfinished draft is deleted 30 days after its last activity, and you get a reminder on day 23. That rule is for drafts only, not for an Xpedition you explicitly save.

Does a saved free Xpedition expire?

No. When you save an Xpedition on a free account, it stays saved. There is no limit today on how many trips a free account can save.

The saved trip does, however, open locked. You can still recognize it by basic details such as its title, destination and dates, but the full itinerary and map cannot be used until you join Xplorer Pro. Saving and unlocking are two different parts of the product.

1. Open the entire saved Xpedition

With Pro, you can return to the complete day-by-day plan and its mapped stops after saving. The itinerary brings together drives, hikes, camps or lodging, activities, meals, fuel stops and other plans. This matters most when a trip has several overnight locations and each day depends on where you finished the night before.

An organized itinerary is still a proposed plan. It does not confirm that a road is open or that a campground has space. Check land manager notices, operator hours and reservations separately.

2. Reopen saved trips with Xavier for editing

Plans change. A campsite fills up, the group wants a shorter hiking day, or the departure time moves. With Xplorer Pro, you can reopen an Xpedition you already saved and ask Xavier to revise it, rather than building a new trip from scratch.

A useful edit says what should stay fixed and what should change: "Keep my dates and the second day's hike, but replace the overnight camping stop with a cabin and revise the next morning's drive." Review the new stops, overnight location and travel time before treating the revised plan as settled.

Before your first save, editing is part of the free planning conversation. After saving, editing is part of Pro.

3. Share the trip without sharing your private booking log

Pro lets you create a read-only share link for a saved Xpedition. The person you send it to can open the plan without an Xploreum account. The link is for viewing the trip, not for editing it together, and your private booking log is not included.

That helps when friends or family want to see the order of activities and where everyone sleeps. It does not replace a collaborative planner where everyone can change dates or vote on accommodation inside the same itinerary. 4. Keep reservation details beside the trip

The connected booking log is a place to record arrangements you made yourself. For each one you can keep a status, a confirmation code, a booking link and notes. It also takes permits and meal bookings when they matter to the trip.

The booking log does not book campsites, hotels, guides or activities. It does not check permit availability or tell you whether a station is open. Treat it as one organized record, so you are not searching several inboxes the morning you leave.

5. Open a stop in a mobile navigation app

On mobile, Pro can hand one stop at a time to Apple Maps or Google Maps. Navigation then happens in that app. Xploreum itself does not provide turn-by-turn navigation or downloadable offline maps.

For a remote hike or an unpaved route, prepare your navigation separately. A point on the itinerary map does not mean a road, trail, crossing or connection is safe and passable. When the mapping service cannot route a leg, it can appear as a straight line. Check the actual route against a current, authoritative source.

Exports: Xploreum does not yet offer PDF or GPX export to every account, so do not buy Pro on the expectation of an export button. If one appears on your saved Xpedition in the web app, check the file before you rely on it.

Here is how billing works today:

On the checkout card you may see an older, higher annual price crossed out next to $79. That is the price from before September 2026, not your renewal price: new subscriptions renew at $79. If you already subscribe on another plan, check your own billing portal rather than assuming the new price replaces your existing terms.

A subscription does not remove the work that belongs with an official source or a specialist field tool. In particular:

• No automatic reservations. Make campsite, lodging, guide and activity bookings yourself.
• No permit lookup, live availability or permit issuance. Check requirements with the land manager and keep the confirmations in your own records.
• No offline maps or turn-by-turn navigation. Tools like Gaia GPS, AllTrails and onX are built for offline maps and field navigation.
• No automatic Gaia GPS sync. If an Export option appears on your saved Xpedition in the web app, a GPX file can be imported into Gaia GPS by hand.
• No collaborative editing. The share link is read-only.
• No backcountry food plan. Xavier can suggest meal stops and costs, but not menus, calories, dietary planning or how much food to carry between resupplies.
• No guarantee that fuel and road suggestions are current. Check station hours and fuel type, road status, access rules and your own vehicle's fuel needs yourself.

The Garage, the Equipment Closet, Community and Gear Deal Alerts have not been released. Do not count them as current paid features when you decide.
